Happy Birthday Dad Carter!

Today is my father-in-law's 85th birthday. As I wrote a couple postings ago, two of Dad's sisters as well as two cousins came up to Minnesota to celebrate with him. His third sister was unable to come due to health problems (we missed you, Aunt Gloria and Uncle Ken!).
Friday evening saw the Carter clan at the farm house for birthday pie. If you know my father-in-law, you know that he would MUCH rather have cherry pie than, well, anything! It was a fun evening, complete with the fat lady singing and wondering just who WAS on first (you had to be there!), topped off with cherry pie and ice cream. Dad's sister Carol (from Texas) showed us a DVD she had put together with old family photos. I'm talking OLD....like photos of Tony's great-great-grandparents on forward. It was fun to see!

Here are some of the wild partiers along with the youngest (local) grandkids who helped blow out the candles. I believe a good time was had by all.
Happy birthday, Dad Carter. I do appreciate your wisdom and (most) of your comments as I've gotten to know and love you these past six years!

I'm not sure if the birthday boy was as thrilled with all the balloons...kids...candles as he was with the pie!

Take away the kids, candles, balloons and you have just an ordinary cherry pie. Might be good, but the memories of it won't last as long. Happy Birthday to your Dad-in-law!
